Jacob Thomson – Episode 3: Bluegrass and Grass Roots

Jacob is a professional runner based out of Flagstaff, Arizona running for Under Armour and the Dark Sky distance team. After a disappointing performance at the Olympic Trials in the 10k last summer, Jacob decided to shift his focus to the marathon. Fast forward a year after his marathon debut in Chicago, Jacob has been in the thick of marathon training for his second marathon which is also the US Marathon Championships, CIM on December 4th.

In Episode 3 Jacob heads home to the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, where he grew up. Jacob owns an online running coaching business called Thomson Training that coaches athletes of all ages from 30+ states and 3 countries.

He also hosts a track meet named after his late grandfather, and a summer running camp called Bluegrass Running camp.

All three of these programs are discussed and documented in episode 3 and more information is available at the links below. We also dive into Jacob’s final race of the build (Indy half marathon), his final long run workout (22 mile long run), and one of his final key sessions the week of CIM.
