Colin Mickow – 22 Mile Long Run

Colin Mickow of the Second City Track Club placed 6th at the Chicago Marathon 2021 in 2:13:31.

At the time of the Chicago Marathon the selection criteria for the 2022 World Championships in Eugene hadn’t been released.

The following week USATF released the selection criteria for the Marathon which stated that the team would be selected by top placings at the Chicago Marathon, the Boston Marathon and the NYC Marathon (also – automatic selection for Galen Rupp finishing top 10 at the 2020 Olympics).

Upon learning the criteria, Colin was ranked the highest (after Rupp) based on placings at Boston and Chicago.

Colin and Coach Michael Lucchesi had to wait on the results of the NYC Marathon to see if Colin would still rank top 2 (after Rupp).

Only Kibet placed higher than Colin at the NYC Marathon meaning Colin had qualified for the World Championships.

We joined Colin for a long run, 9 months before the World Championships.

The Titan Fitness Ronin Plyometric Machine is one of the most confusing products I’ve reviewed. It’s big. It’s overbuilt. It’s pretty niche-focused. And I’m not sure who it’s made for.

Titan is a home gym equipment company. The Ronin is designed to meet the needs of University Strength Coaches. It just doesn’t add up.

But, when I put that thought out of my mind, I realize, I love this product. I think it’s a fantastic idea. But, I simply don’t know who I’d recommend it to. Let’s review it.

Haresh goes to lunch with members of his own community – the Indians. He meets a man who went viral over a racist incident, an artist who is exhibiting on the moon, and the owner of one of Singapore’s most beloved food brands.

Haresh’s first lunch buddy is Dave Parkash, who went viral when a polytechnic lecturer accosted him and his girlfriend over their interracial relationship. Dave reveals what happened the day of the incident, and how his life has changed since.

Haresh then grabs a bite with Lakshmi Mohanbabu, an artist whose work will be displayed on the moon! Over traditional Kerala cuisine, they chat about her experience growing up in Afghanistan and her life as a new citizen in Singapore.

Finally, Abdul Malik Hassan, the owner of Crave Nasi Lemak, shares a meal of chapati with Haresh. Abdul Malik talks about his interracial marriage, and how food unites Singaporeans.

Enock Onchari, Dominic Ngeno and Team Asics (Kenya) are preparing for races this weekend with a fartlek workout just outside of Iten, Kenya. The team produced some good results on Sunday, claiming a 1st and 2nd at the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes (France), as well as a men’s 2nd and lady’s 2nd at a very competitive local half marathon in Nakuru.

The workout: 15x1min (1min recovery), 10x30sec (30sec recovery).
