Smith Machine Hip Thrust – 450 lbs

Smith Machine Hip Thrust – 450 lbs.

Who says you can’t use a Smith machine for anything good?

While I don’t use it for much, the Smith is excellent for ease of set-up with hip thrusts. You can set the bar to start at the height of your hip extension, and its quite easy to rack the weight and slip out of it.

I just pull a bench up to it and adjust the distance so that my shoulder blades are against it when I’m sitting down on the ground.

It’s super important to keep your chin tucked at the lockout, and make sure to get full hip extension at the top. The glutes are fired up the most in this position.

The pad I am using is called a a ‘squat pad’ by Iron Bull fitness…
